A slick Ajax win against NK Lokomotiva Zagreb

Ajax won their third match in the preparation for the 2022/2023 season convincingly. With a number of returning internationals in the starting line-up, the Ajax players defeated the Croatian NK Lokomotiva Zagreb 3-0 at the De Toekomst sports complex. Kenneth Taylor, Youri Baas and Jay Enem accounted for the Amsterdam goals.

Compared with the practice match against SC Paderborn (2-5 loss), coach Alfred Schreuder made four changes to the starting line-up. Returning internationals Daley Blind, Taylor and Davy Klaassen started the game at the expense of Kik Pierie, Kian Fitz-Jim and Mohamed Ihattaren. In addition, Perr Schuurs replaced Lisandro Magallán in the heart of the defence.

Ajax took a 2-0 lead into the half-time break. In the 18th minute, Taylor got had the ball delivered to his feet after an unsuccessful one-two, and the midfielder took the leather and calmly fired it into the net: 1-0.

After the opening goal, Ajax retained the upper hand, resulting in another Amsterdam goal shortly before half-time. A fine cross from goalie Taylor was headed in by Baas from close range.
