Adidas reimagines iconic 2006/2007 Ajax Teamgeist away kit, 15 years on

Today, Ajax and adidas present the remake of the iconic 2006/2007 Ajax Teamgeist Ajax kit, 15 years on from the launch of one of the most recognisable designs in football.

Teamgeist was originally created as design template for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and worn by international teams including Argentina and Germany. It was also used as base for the kit design for various club teams in the 2006/2007 season, including the Ajax away kit.

Now, a special edition collection is released for nine adidas club teams, featuring a reimagined Teamgeist design for the modern era. The 2021 Teamgeist collection features a jersey, tee and crew sweater. Ajax is featured alongside Real Madrid, Juventus, Celtic, Manchester United, FC Bayern, Arsenal, Flamengo and Boca Juniors.

To showcase the 2021 Teamgeist collection, adidas has partnered with Japanese publication Shukyu. A one-off, limited-edition version of the magazine will feature the new collection through a series of lifestyle imagery shot on models, artists, tastemakers and football culture enthusiasts.

In a Johan Cruyff Arena with no fans for almost the entire season, the ‘old logo’ was one of the few spectators at the Ajax home games. The impressive banner, handmade by the fans, could be found behind the goal week by week – in the stands that usually are the epicenter of a roaring Johan Cruyff ArenA. After such an unreal season, this historical logo will be back on the home jersey, in what is a one-off tribute to the fans. This logo does not contain the championship stars, like that was also not the case back in the days. The three stars do show as a neck detail, with a subtle addition of the three Andreas crosses.

Ajax and adidas release an iconic 2021/2022 third kit inspired by Bob Marley

Today, Ajax and adidas, in collaboration with the Bob Marley family release the 2021/2022 Ajax third kit. The kit is a tribute to the Ajax fans and the love shared by the club and its fans for reggae legend Bob Marley and his iconic song, Three Little Birds. The black kit features red, yellow and green details. On the back of the jersey, just below the collar, it features a subtle reference to the iconic song, with three little birds sitting on Amsterdam’s Andreas crosses. The kit will be worn in this season’s European matches, alongside Ajax’ home kit.
