Sorare is a platform where fans can collect (digital) player cards. Fans can also trade cards on the platform, or play with them in a 'fantasy football game'. The value and quality of the player cards is based on performance in the real world of football. Sorare's platform runs on blockchain technology, the cards are offered as non fungible tokens (NFTs). Sorare works with more than 300 clubs worldwide. Since 2018 it has also partnered with the Eredivisie; following on from that, Ajax players have been savable for a number of years.
Menno Geelen, commercial director at Ajax: "Sorare is a reliable and popular platform on which more than 3 million fans worldwide are active. With this partnership, we can further develop Ajax in the digital environment worldwide. In turn we can help Sorare to raise awareness for the game and the platform in general and Ajax player cards in particular."
Michael Meltzer, Head of Business Development at Sorare: "In recent years, we saw Ajax players invariably in the top of the most sought-after Eredivisie player cards. And Ajax's appeal in general is also growing worldwide. We are therefore delighted to now be an Official Sponsor. With this partnership, we can make both Sorare as Ajax ín Sorare a greater success."
