With the win, Ajax end the first half of the season in the Eredivisie with 42 points and an impressive goal difference of +51.
The home team encountered a Fortuna that really wanted to play football, and that ensured in a lively opening phase.
The Limburg formation also created several opportunities, but it was Daley Blind who scored the opening goal, in the fourteenth minute. It was the defender's first goal of the Eredivisie season.
It turned out to be the start of a good phase for the home team, who got their just rewards nine minutes later with a second goal. Antony waded in and put the ball into the far corner: 2-0.
