After the 2-0 win over FC Volendam, John van ’t Schip saw no reason to make changes to his starting line-up. The Ajax squad repaid that confidence on Sunday by securing their second victory in a row at home.
Ajax takes lead
Ajax seized the advantage in the 25th minute through Bergwijn. The Ajax captain slid the opening goal in after a splitting pass from Steven Berghuis: 1-0. Briefly before half time, Brobbey headed in the 2-0 marker from close range after an exquisite cross from Branco van den Boomen.
In injury time of the first half, sc Heerenveen did strike back. Brouwers beat Diant Ramaj with a header, which saw the Amsterdammers heading to the break with a 2-1 lead.
Despite several opportunities for the away team in the second half, Ajax did not concede again at home. In the closing minutes, Amsterdammers even built on their lead through Akpom. The Englishman did brilliantly as a substitute and beat Noppert twice, sealing another league win for Van 't Schip's team.
