Hamstra: "It is my goal to become Director of Football and to carry all responsibility that comes with that, and I don't have that option at Ajax. That's why I have decided to leave early. I want to thank everyone at Ajax for our collaboration and I hope the club finishes the season successfully."
Edwin van der Sar: "When Gerry joined Ajax two years ago, the goal was to work together with Marc Overmars and take over part of his work at the youth teams, Ajax U23, and scouting. After Marc left, Gerry and Klaas Jan Huntelaar were partly responsible for the technical management of the club. We have told Gerry that we want to organise those matters differently. We understand his decision to leave and would like to thank him for his work."
