Maduro (Almere, 13 February 1985) was also assistant trainer at his hometown club. Three years ago, he signed a contract as head coach of the U21 team in Almere. Between December 2021 and June 2021, Maduro combined that role with his assistant trainer duties to Alex Pastoor and starting last season his focus fully shifted towards the first team. Last week he won the final of the play-off with the team from Flevoland, resulting in promotion to the Eredivisie. Before he was appointed at Almere City he worked as assistant coach of the U21 and U18 teams of the KNVB. The former Netherlands international with 18 caps played in the Ajax youth academy and was a first team player from 2004-2007. Furthermore, his player career took him to respectively Valencia, Sevilla, PAOK Saloniki, FC Groningen and Omonia Nicosia.
Director of Football Sven Mislintat: "It’s very important that Hedwiges is joining us. I’m very happy that we have now filled all trainer positions for the first team. We realize that it was not easy for Almere City to be confronted with our interest in Hedwiges, shortly after their promotion. We are very thankful to the club that the contact was very respectful and that we could add him to our technical staff. The specific qualities that Hedwiges possesses fit perfectly into what we had in mind for completing our trainer staff.”
