The twenty-something took his nearest and dearest along to the Johan Cruijff ArenA for the occasion of signing his new contract. “We should pause for just a moment. The people I work really hard with every day to become a better football player and a better person are here today."
Timber says he has fully extended his contract up until 30 June 2025. "Feeling it made the difference. But there's a plan too." Making a decision like that by yourself is not easy. That's why I also needed the people around me. It's been a hectic summer."
New status
The defender has even noticed that his status is growing. "You get a different role within the team. That was the case last season and again this. I also want to get better myself, keep growing and winning trophies. I'm not that young talent like before. Things are changing and I have to go along with that."
Timber has also noticed that the arrival of trainer Alfred Schreuder along with a number of new players means a new wind is blowing in Amsterdam. "Yes, you can feel a new energy. A lot of quality has come on board. Adjusting has also been very rapid. That is also part of being a good footballer, but it is great to see."
